Museum adds new exhibits

September 3, 2015

pgsth2Revamped displays and exhibits

During the summer, volunteers at the museum added and revamped displays and exhibits. The Doctor’s Office on the second floor underwent a major reorganization, added a Native American Artifact display on the second floor, a Fossils, Minerals and Rocks collection display now resides in the General store, and recently donated artifacts from donors grace other buildings and rooms.

Plan a trip to the museum to see the changes and the special exhibit on Clinton County Schools. Artifacts and photographs take us back in time when there were over one hundred rural township schools. The museum has many photos of one room country schools, and is always looking for more. Do you have photos that could be copied for our collection?

A permanent Military Display has artifacts from the Civil War through the Vietnam War and Calendar Hall on the second floor explores the history of the “Beginning of Clinton County” up to 1960. Other areas in the 1860’s house show what it was like in past times and don’t miss the General Store and Carriage House displays.

Paine-Gilliam-Scott House Museum, including the General Store and the Carriage House are open on Wednesdays from 2 pm to 6:30 pm and Sundays 1 pm to 4 pm, mid-May through mid-December.
